The FESSAP Aquatic Club will stage the 2nd Philippine University Swimming League (PUSL) as the forerunner thriving for the qualifying to 31st Summer Universiade (SU) in Chengdu, China, also known as the World University Games.
This was announced by the FAC Chair, Allan D. Soria, who was appointed by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), the national university sports federation recognized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) who conducts the World University Games once every two-year, an Olympic event of the University with a membership of 185 countries.
The 2nd Philippine University Swimming League (PUSL) is the qualifying tournament not only to the Chengdu Universiade but other international competitions such as the 20th ASEAN University Games (AUG) which will be held from July 26, 2022 – August 6, 2022, after the conclusion of Chengdu’s Summer Universiade which will start earlier from June 26, 2022 – July 7, 2022.
Moreover, the PUSL under the supervision of the FESSAP Aquatic Club (FAC) is highly supported by the government-State universities led by Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) in Region 3 and the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) located in Manila.
The PUSL plan is to be staged in Region 3 with the support from the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) president, Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis with his Sports Director, Dr. Romeo Nisay to coordinate with FAC Chairman Allan D. Soria to host the PUSL from December 15 to 17, 2021.
Allan Soria is also the TUP Sports Director supported by TUP President, Dr. Jesus Rodrigo F. Torres in organizing the qualifying tournament that will be held in Region 3.
Soria will be assisted by BPSU swimming head coach, Francis Gallardo, FAC Director in Region 3.
Further, Allan Soria has requested that BPSU host the PUSL and provide the swimming facility (Olympic size swimming pool) as the venue for the competition, these include BPSU dormitories with affordable costs for athletes, coaches, and officials. The competition’s designated officiating (umpire) officials for the League will be compensated using the registration fee and sponsor incurred during the qualifying tournament.
Newly-Elected FESSAP President, Edwin C. Fabro, a businessman-Philanthropist, has acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Jesus Rodrigo Torres (TUP President), Dr. Gregorio Rodis (BPSU President), and Allan Soria (TUP Sports Director and FESSAP Executive Assistant on State University Affairs), promoting the student-athletes to be active in sports consciousness program and commitment to participate in international competitions. 😎(gcl)
