The hardship experienced by the majority of Philippine swimming coaches might come to an end especially in Region IV. The Department of Tourism of CALABARZON held an online briefing yesterday, June 3 to discuss the following:
- DOT Administrative Order 2020-002. Guidelines on the Operation of Hotels and Other Accommodations Establishments under the Community Quarantine.
- Memorandum Circular 2020-002. Health and Safety Guidelines covering Operations of Accommodations of Establishment under the New Normal.
Some other areas of coverage are Rooms and Housekeeping, Sanitation and Disinfection of Public Areas, Management of Symptomatic Guest, Reception and Concierge, and Engineering and Maintenance.
The orientation which is done via zoom conferencing is attended by Provincial, City and Municipal tourism officers, and resident managers of hotels, resorts, and other accomodation establishments within the CALABARZON region.
One of the attendees is Coach Hans Sumalde of Cavite Blue Wahoo Swimming Club and at the same time Managing Director of Loufil Orchard Resort. He informed me that the Resort and Hotels owner must pass a Letter of Intent to operate to DOT and if approved, they will be given a certificate to operate.
He also said that recreational facilities such as gym, and wellness center, children’s areas, sports facilities, swimming pools will be allowed to operate but with strict observance with the Department of Health prescribed Minimum Public Health Standard.
So, coaches, we can now say goodbye to our extra job like online selling, grab padala, etc. and to my favorite food for two months, sardines and noodles!
